3 Joy-Jumping Traffic Ideas using Sidewiki
Stop! Whatever you’re doing. STOP!
This is a critical matter. It can either be extremely bad or it can be the greatest news since sliced bread.
Have you heard about Sidewiki yet? If you haven’t, then you better start. I’m not kidding.
SideWiki is a Social comment tool created by Google. It’s a widget gadget addon tool that comes with Google’s new toolbar.
There are a lot of controversies about it too. Sylvie Fortin posted on Twitter and her blog…
…Sidewiki is BAD. Creates liability and perception issues that can damage, even destroy people’s livelihoods. Pure evil @google.

Blog here…

And I can definitely see her point. However… …It appears Google is NOT prepared to dismantle this new side-winder anytime soon. So I decided to check up on their Program Policy. You can check for yourself at…
Google Support for Sidewiki
Here are the Program Policies in point form:
1) Keep Sidewiki spam and malware free.
2) Speak your mind without being hateful or threatening to others.
3) Keep it legal.
4) Respect copyright laws.
5) Don’t post or link to sexually explicit material.
6) Don’t pretend to be someone else.
7) Don’t share personal or confidential information
It clearly states the do’s & don’ts and the punishment for disobeying. Like for example… your Google account terminated. I can just imagine the amount of policing there will be too.
A Pencil icon appears on your bottom left of the web page your viewing. Simply click it and make a comment. You need a Google account to get started. Even your profile picture appears with your comment. You can also tell the tool to Tweet Twitter and post to your Blog!
Neat… eh?
Now that’s powerful! As I posted a comment on Google’s Policy page I came up with 3 Joy-Jumping Kick-Butt Sidewiki Traffic Ideas!
(1)
What if you would put a resource box including your name and website address! Umm… even post an affiliate link. See where I’m going with this? So… by placing comments on high TRAFFIC ended Websites…
…The MORE TRAFFIC and recognition you will GET!
(2)
Now… here’s another great idea. If you own a web site and want some free traffic. …set backlinks for example for a free review of your website’s content. Send your subscribers an email and exchange links via SideWiki. :0)
Can you see the potential power of this tool? Here’s another idea.
Visit any niche site that draws traffic. If you have PLR articles related to that niche site, you could linkback to your own Squeeze Page. And practically steal traffic – FREE & LEGAL!
(3)
And here’s one last idea you could do. This one could make you look like a HERO! We all get spam mail right? We all get fraudulent, phishing and darn right rude email. So here’s our chance to get back at them. Go to these sites (don’t click anything on the site) and post a… “This is a fraudulent website.”… comment.
(3.5)
Okay that’s all I’m going to throw at you today about Sidewiki. You can take what I threw at you and you can stick them on any wall (facebook, twitter, myspace, etc…) you like. :0)

in the internet marketing forums people are freaking out about this.
I personally see it as a good thing when used the way you mention.
I think it is actually a good thing for getting leads back in to your own business, it doesnt really take away from the site owner if the content is goo.
Thanks Jessica,
Yes I agree. I do see the dangers, however there are many positive ideas you can draw around it. Besides I don’t think Google will close it either. So either we play or go home crying.
Cheers!
Hi Lonnie,
I think your comments on Sidewiki was very interesting. I would like to try some responsible commenting on Sidewiki with a “resource box” including an affiliate link as you suggested, but I can not see the sidebar. I have installed the new google toolbar from your link, in Firefox. How do I open the sidebar on sites and write a comment?
Thanks,
Inga
Hi Inga-Lill,
Usually the little blue square box with a pencil pops in at the very bottom
of the web page you are viewing. Bottom left hand corner. It’s tiny.
About the size of your email service icons.
Good Luck!
